A silence haunts me - by Runestad
Ludwig Van Beethoven
Symphony no. 9 in D minor
"Choral"
St Augustine's Church, Kilburn

"Peregrine Orchestra and Voices, and the extended lineup of the Queen's Park Singers which assembled in St. Augustine's Church, Kilburn, London to perform Beethoven's 9th Symphony, with their Musical Director and Conductor extraordinaire Daniel Collins at the helm gave us an unforgettable experience.
Fuelled by passion, determination and talent, they brought to a church packed to the rafters an immersive sound the like of which I never thought possible. Unusually, the opening piece, A Silence Haunts Me, a contemporary choral work by Runestad, was seamlessly joined with the 9th, with no pause for applause till the very end. Some were visibly moved by the emotional impact of both pieces. I certainly was."

"The Queen’s Park Singers joined with the Peregrine Orchestra and Voices under the baton of Daniel Collins, with soloists Felicity Hayward, Eleanor Kemp, Mark Dobell and Ben Davies, in the Victorian splendour of St Augustine’s, Kilburn. One friend found the church’s acoustic didn’t help the music in terms of clarity, whereas another friend confessed she had been moved to tears. It was difficult for me to tell how good the performance was, partly due to our positioning behind the soloists and orchestra, partly because I was too focused on trying to get the bass part right. What I can very truthfully say is that, like other choir members I spoke to afterwards, I felt exhilarated by being part of such a joyful noise.
Had anyone told me a year ago that I would be singing this music with an orchestra, in front of an audience, I would not have believed them. But I’m very glad that I would have been wrong."

Verdi's Messa da Requiem
St. Marks. Hamilton Terrace. London

"Thrilling performance in a beautiful venue. Spine tingling music filled the church."
"Lovely loud and powerful concert, from a very new orchestra, although they sound as if they've been playing together for years. All four soloists were very impressive and I predict we'll one day see (and hear) Lauren Macleod leading the crowds at The Last Night Of The Proms. Excellent programme notes (thank you) and liked the distribution of the brass section around the Church for the Tuba Mirum. Seen Simon Rattle do this to great effect as well - great minds obviously do think alike. Nice friendly welcome too."
"Wonderful, stirring orchestral and choral performance in a beautiful church."
"Very enjoyable, great performance brilliantly conducted. The acoustics in St Mark's were ideal, especially for the 'off stage' trumpet portions, and the uplifting big orchestra and drum parts. Very hospitable venue."
"A-MA-ZING! Hadn’t been to this good concert for a while. Incredible work by the director, orchestra and singers. Keep up the good work!"

I have followed the Peregrine Orchestra since its inception, and with Daniel Collins at the helm, I’ve seen it going from strength to strength. Great musicianship and voices, meet beautifully curated playlists, including some of the most complex and grand works ever composed. The Orchestra and Voices are easily on par with some of the best I’ve seen and listened to in recent years. I urge you to come to their concerts and support them if you can.
